She lasted until I put the bow on!

I have become obsessed. I have made my poor little daughter wear just about every handmade bow that mommies little fingers could glue, sew and staple together. On this day however, she had enough!

It it Christmas yet?

We are in the full spirit of Christmas over here. Presents are getting wrapped, I have baked more than any human should bake and the lights are finally up on the house.

Of course this mens that Evan asks everyday if it is Christmas day and if Santa is on his way to our house. It has created a lot of questions here are just a few:

“Mommy, is Santa not here because he is doing his homework on the computer?” (His dad and I are both going to school online)

“Mom, is Santa not here because his “boat” (AKA Sleigh) ran out of gas?”

“Mom, Santa called our house last night and he said that I was extra good and he is sending a check so you can take me to Boys R Us (that’s Toys R Us for the rest of us) and buy me anything that I want. That’s what happens when you are good.”

“Mommy……..I am getting a little frustrated with you! If you really wanted me to I could just open my gifts right now and then you could just getted me MORE presents for opening on Christmas day.”

“Me and Santa”

So this weekend we went to visit Santa. Who would have thought six years ago I would be taking three kids in 2010 to see Santa…NOT ME!!!! We had a bit of a wait but of course, the anticipation for the boys was enough to keep them occupied while we waited. Of course Aiden had his second year in a row “Santa Poop” last year just as he sat down on Santa’s lap he “pooped” and boy does that show on his face in his picture!  This year of course it sent Dad running him to the bathroom for a quick change with only three people ahead of us in line.

The kids expression were the following when they got to Santa and had their picture taken:

Aiden screamed, cried and said “Nooo!, Nooooo!”

Caitie was awake but would not stop sticking her tongue out and yawning. Lucky for us she is doing both in the picture.

Evan, well he was Mr. Serious. I asked him why and he said “Mommy, Me and Santa got some stuff to talk about.’ (it was so cute I cried!) “Mommy, Santa had to know that I was really good and that I need to get all my stuffs that I want from him. I gotta tell him so that he doesn’t get confused and I get what I want and not what the other boys want.”

He did in fact tell Santa just that. I was so proud of him. Not a tear or a fear. He and Santa talked it out and Evan got his point across because Santa said he would do his very best. Evan was satisfied with that.

Happiness is…….

Oh the weather outside is…okay I live in Southern California the weather outside is cool for us, like 72 degrees. I was just trying to set the mood.

Happiness is baking from scratch with your kids! Today we made pumpkin bread. Both the boys helped, yes, even the 19 month old folks! I was so proud of Evan. He has been baking and cooking with me since he was 18 months old and he is so good with recipes. I taught him how to measure things out today and he did so well. Baking and cooking is such a great way to teach kids some math skills and listening skills. It also is great to teach them about food and good health.

We mixed up the batter and poured it into the pan. Popped it into the oven and then the four of us all went outside. An hour later we came back in and the house smelled AMAZING!!! We took it out of the oven, poured some milk (coffee for me, baby up at 4am!!!) Then we sliced it up…mmmmm……………………nice and warm just out of the oven. We ate half the loaf! We sure hope Dad gets home soon or there will be nothing left except the smell of fresh-baked pumpkin bread!

Christmas Tree Prison…the headline!

This just in from the Preschool Mommy Press……

This Christmas tree has been sent to prison. It has been wrongly accused of being way too fun of a way to send brightly colored objects, at rapid speeds across the living room in a single bound.  The Christmas tree in question that resided happily in a large box in the garage of a Southern California  family says this about the incident:

“The kid was dressed in Batman pajamas and he was so excited.  He was covered in Christmas cookies and he had crazy hair.  He was grabbing the decorations off me as fast as his big brother could put them on.  It was terrifying!”

The Batman clothed child in question, Aiden age 19 months is wanted for questioning.

The owners of this Christmas tree, who wished to have their names withheld, had no choice but to imprison the beautiful tree for being “a sure way to Papa having to come over and board up broken windows this holiday season.”  It is not known how long the tree will be in prison but a best estimate is until some time after December 24th, 2010.  We will keep you posted on changes to this situation as they are made available.

The Christmas Tree as he now resides until an unknown date in Christmas Tree Prison.
